At The Beach With: The Skoby Family

Posted by Julia Wheeler on

A few weeks ago, we spent an afternoon in La Jolla with ceramic artist, Joe Skoby, his two daughters and his wife, Cristiana. They live in a beautiful historic home in Bird Rock, blocks from the ocean, where Joe works on ceramics in his garden studio as his daughters climb trees and herd cats, and Cristiana prepares a ceramic showing for an interior designer. After our hang at the house, the Skobys packed into Joe's old pickup and we rolled down the hill to the ocean for a near-sunset beach adventure. The girls climbed rocks, found shells, and splashed around. All in all, a pretty idyllic day.
